The Grit Award is presented to a student who has faced and overcome significant personal obstacles, demonstrating resilience, strength, and positivity while succeeding in their educational pursuits. Through their perseverance and determination, this student has made a meaningful impact on those around them and contributed to the success of Utah Tech University by leading through example in the face of adversity. The recipient’s unique journey is inspiring to the campus community and embodies the true “Grit” of a Trailblazer. Grit is one of the University’s five essential learning outcomes.

This award recognizes a student who has demonstrated the following:

  • Faced and overcome significant personal obstacles
  • Found the strength and ability to succeed in their educational pursuits
  • Maintained a full-time enrollment for 2 consecutive semesters
